Some time between 1793 and 1795 John [Franciscus] married a daughter of .i.Mordecai and Elizabeth Haigood;. Amanda/Elizabeth was the daughter of Mordecai and Elizabeth Hagood and the granddaughter of .i.Richard and Jane Hagood; of Brunswick Co., VA(NC). No record of this marriage has been found, since records of Hawkins Co., TN, are incomplete because of destruction by fire during the Civil War. .i.Mordecai Hagood; settled in Hawkins Co., TN, in 1778 or 1779 on the Holston River about 8 miles north of the present site of Rogersville, TN, county seat of Hawkins County. This was the most fertile section of Hawkins County. Mordecai Haigood died in Hawkins Co., TN (then North Carolina) between 3 May 1797 and 9 October 1799, leaving no will but a widow Elizabeth who was yet alive in 1810 when she sold land in Hawkins County. Mordecai's nine heirs from the records regarding the estate settlement were:

.i.Mordecai Haigood; was the son of .i.Richard and Jane Haigood; of Brunswick Co., VA, and the grandson of .i.Francis Hagood; (Hogwood, Hawkwood) of Surry Co., VA. .i.Richard and Jane Hagood; deeded land to their son Mordecai in Brunswick Co., VA on 28 August 1769 - Deed Bk. 9, page 514. .i.Francis Hagood;'s will dated 3 January 1676 was proven 1 May 1677 in Surry Co., VA - Will and Deed Books 1671-1684, page 122.
Francis Hagood's will names children: Richard (executor of the will), William, George, and daughter Frances. .i.John Francisco; bought all the other heirs' shares of 300 acres of land belonging to .i.Mordecai Haigood; and wife, Elizabeth.
