    I have received the Civil War Pension File of Minor T. Thomas. Minor is the
    son of Hewet L. Thomas and Charlotte Helm, born 1830 in Fayette Co., Indiana,
    and the grandson of Rev. Minor Thomas of Covert, Seneca Co. NY and
    Connersville, Fayette Co., Indiana. Data from the file:

    2nd and 1st Lt., 1st Minnesota Volunteer Infantry, Apr. 29 to Nov. 18, 1861.
    Lt. Col., 4th Minnesota Volunteer Infantry, Dec. 23, 1861 to Aug. 24, 1862.
    Col., 8th Minnesota Volunteer Infantry, Aug. 24, 1862 to July 11, 1865.
    July and August 1864, on D. S. Coudy's Indian Expedition, Minnesota and
    Dakota Territory.
    Feb. 1865, Brevetted Brig. General.

    Prior to war: 1857-1861 Surveyor and Sheriff, Washington Co., Minnesota.
    Married Carrie B. Bolton (abt. 1832 to Aug. 13, 1910) in Logansport, Indiana,
    February 14, 1855.
    Daughter Minnie Thomas, married to an unidentified Campbell.

    Minor T. Thomas died of Lung Hemorrhage, October 2, 1897 in Minneapolis,
    Minnesota.
    Suffered from Chronic Bronchitis (possibly TB) and Chronic Diarrhea from the
    Siege of Corinth, Mississippi, May 1862 until his death.
    He was a civil engineer for the St. Paul and Pacific Railroad and Sauk Rapids
    Water-Power in Minneapolis in the late 1860s.
    He was Chief Engineer of the Detroit, Lansing and Lake Michigan Railroad,
    1875-1880.
    Resided in New Mexico and Arizona, 1880-1883.
    Resided in New Orleans, La. 1870-1873.
    Buried in Cass County, Indiana.
