Mildred Ruth Ice Chisholm, 99, died in her home February 5, 2015 after a brief illness. Born January 19, 1916 in Mt. Rainier, Maryland, she was the middle child of Dr. Harry L. Ice, Sr. and Eva Lena Billick (of Bethany, WV?) Mildred graduated from Bartlesville High School in 1934. She attended Christian College in Columbia, Mo. and graduated from the University of Missouri where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She married her beloved husband, Donald H. Chisholm, in 1940. Milly, as she was known to her friends, served on the boards of the Delano Library and the Cabot Clinic. In addition to their volunteer work, she and her husband were active and generous supporters of many local institutions, such as Children's Mercy Hospital, Truman Medical Center and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Milly and Don were frequent travellers, visiting Europe, China, Tibet and Russia. Milly is preceded in death by her husband Don, sister Betty Gilmer and brother Harry Ice, Jr. Surviving are her daughter, Nan Chisholm of New York, NY, son Bill Chisholm and his wife Barbara of Gladstone, Mo., grandson Alex Chisholm, his wife Jessica and their daughter Ellinor of Edwardsville, Ks. Other survivors include her nephew, Jimmy Gilmer and nieces Jane Reichert, Pat Utz and Evelyn Logue.
Visitation will be held at McGilley's Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd. on Friday February 13th from 4:30 to 6:30PM. A memorial service will take place at 2:00PM on Saturday, February 14th at the Second Presbyterian Church, 318 East 55th Street. The burial will be private.
