Milbrey "Millie" Dement Mcreynolds
Milbrey "Millie" Dement was the daughter of Charles Gilbert Dement (1740 – 1820) and Sarah "Sely" Thomas (abt. 1740 – abt 1820), who were married in Bertie Co., NC. Her name was spelled "Milberry" in her father's will dated Nov. 23, 1820. She and her parents had evidently moved from NC by the year 1792, when her father's name appeared on the Sumner County, TN Tax List. It was in Sumner County that she met and married Samuel McReynolds on October 8, 1804. She was about 18 years old at the time, and he was 20.
The new couple lived in Sumner County at first and then settled in Kentucky for about five years. Samuel was unfortunately stricken with arthritis, which crippled him for life. They returned to Sumner County for a few years, after which they moved to Smith Township in Posey County, IN. In 1828 Samuel deeded land from his farm to be used as a meeting place and cemetery, which became known as Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Samuel passed away in 1852 at age 68, and Millie followed soon after in 1854 also at the age of 68. Both are buried on the land that Samuel had provided as a final resting place.
Millie and Samuel McReynolds had at least 8 known children: Matilda, William Hodges, Samuel Davis, Joseph, Nelson, Alexander, Robert, and Nancy.
