[Note: the editor's comment is due to Joel's birth being 28 Apr 1778. Clearly these dates are incompatible and one is undoubtedly wrong, but that is how they are recorded in the original here. One might be tempted to say that since Joel is recorded first, his birth is probably 1777 which would make the births 14 months apart, but that is merely speculation. Source:Noyes, Henry Erastus. Genealogical Record of Some of the Noyes Descendants of James, Nicholas and Peter Noyes, p. 53, makes a critical typo (Joel b. 28 Apr 1877) which makes it hard to discern the intent for Joel, and shows Mercy as 24 Jun 1779, which appears to be a guess, since the original appears to say 8 (if anything else, maybe 6, but it appears to be an 8) and a date in 1779 would make Mercy less than 10 months before Oliver.]
