Will of "Marcy Gates of the town of Lancaster Spinster, being very sick and weak in body", dated 10 Feb 1756, proved 10 Mar 1756, names sister Meream Wilder; sister Hannah Davis; sister Ruth Hubbert Dc. Children Louis Hubbert [given a gown presumably female] and Ruth Hubbert and Ephraim Hubbert. Sister Meream to be executor.
[Note: Torrey makes a big deal about the spelling of Miriam's name, attributing Mereane to this will. For what it is worth, it appears twice in the will and it appears to be Meream both times, Torrey attributing too much precision to sloppy writing in one of the cases.]
10 Mar 1756: Administration granted to Jonathan Fairbanks of Lancaster, "Meriam Wilder" refusing.
30 Apr 1756: Inventory of Marcy Gates Late of Lancaster Spinster Deceased: £72-14-1 3/4, by Oliver Moor, Abner Sawyer, John Glazier.
31 Oct 1757: Account of Jonathan Fairbanks executor of Mercy Gates Late of Lancaster Dec'd, allowed. Directed to pay legacy to the children of Ephraim Hubbard, then be discharged.
