[Note: there are death records for two widow Stockwells. This is close in age and probably Mercy. The other is about 10 years off. She was alive and of Sutton in 1752 when she quitclaim her rights in her husband's estate to the heirs of her son David (Worcester Deed Vol. 32, p. 33).]

  3. Source:Kennedy, Mabel Stockwell. Stockwell Genealogy, p. 198, claims Mercy was living in 1776 "at time of death of son Jeremiah". She is not mentioned in his death record, nor his and it is believed this assertion may be confusion with his own daughter, Mercy Stockwell. The basis for this statement is identified as a list of debts, dated 6 Aug 1776 in the probate file [Hampshire 142-42], which names "Marcy Stockwell" as owed 12 shillings. As the daughter did not marry until 1778 (to John Sprague), she was still going by the name Mercy Stockwell at that time, and it was probably her, since it seems highly likely the mother died in 1771. The daughter is also identified as Mercy Stockwell alias Sprague during later proceedings.
