Maurice E. Fuller . - ↑ 2.0 2.1 Friends and family gathered at Royal Oaks Manor in Bradbury on Wednesday, Aug. 4 to celebrate the life of a longtime La Cañadan, Maurice Eugene Fuller (known to most as "Maury"), who died July 29 at the age of 85.
His death was the result of congestive heart failure, but years of living with heart problems had not prevented him from leading a very busy and active life right up to the end.
He was born in Delia, Kan., on Dec. 17, 1918, but lived there only a year when his parents moved to California. He graduated from Monrovia Arcadia Duarte High School in 1936 and from there went on to Pasadena Junior College for three years. He then attended the University of California at Berkeley, earning a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering in 1942. After working for the Pacific Electric Railway for two years he enlisted in the U.S. Navy with the rank of ensign.
Maury and Ellen were married in February 1946, and at the conclusion of his war service he went to work for the Southern California Gas Company and affiliated companies. During his working years he served on many energy related committees and institutes. He retired in 1984 but went on to do consulting work for Lindval, Richter and Associates.
