Maurice S. "Maury" Blue, 83, Fremont died Thursday at Countryside Continuing Care Center in Fremont.

He was born on May 31, 1922 in Fremont, the son of the late Spencer and Rose (Bauer) Blue. He married Irene F. Slaven on Aug. 18, 1978 in Sandusky and she survives.

Maurice served with the U.S. Marine Corps, 3rd Marine Division, during World War II. He participated in action against the enemy at Bougainville, British Solomon Islands, Guam, and Guadalcanal.

He was employed by Gordon Lumber Co. and Carter Lumber, retiring in 1985 after 30 years of service with Gordon Lumber. After retirement, he worked as a sales manager for Greenlawn Memory Gardens. He was a member of Fremont VFW, American Legion, U.S. Marine Corps League -- Rus Mook Detachment, Disabled American Veterans and Fremont Moose.

Maurice is also survived by daughter, Linda Dray of Fremont; son, Dennis Blue of Port Clinton; stepdaughter, Christine Rodriguez; stepsons, Tom Langley, James Langley and Douglas Langley, all of Fremont, Steve Langley of Clyde; sister, Mary Riehl of Fremont, Elaine Mackey of Lacarne; four grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 11 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents; brothers, Richard and Edward Blue; sisters, Helen Cooper and Cathryn Weiler.

Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wonderly-Horvath Funeral Home and Crematory.

Service: 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens
