In the name of God, and after I made my citizenship and have lived in Maxatawny Township, Berks County, until I reached a ripe old age, but still fresh and in good health, I have decided today to do my testament and will, to leave for my children as follows: First it is my will that I have written an article in which it states what each of my children, their heirs of lower service or that served me on the farm. The names of all my children are as follows: there is Michael, Johannes, Friedrich, Affillig Bastus as my daughter's husband, Matthes and Heinrich Hinterleider. As it is my will that this article shall be legally binding and according to the old customs, notes, bills, and also debts that are in my possession shall be declared null and void. Secondly, it is my will that after my death my two executors shall retain as much as is permissable and see to it that after mine and my beloved housewife Margaretha all my possessions that I leave behind shall be auctioned and from the proceeds evenly divided between my heirs, and it is my absolute will that my son Jacob Hinderleider receive only a token amount since he received his inheritance beforehand. Should the almighty God be pleased to have me called, my executors shall have the power of attorney and authority to see that this my will be executed. Also, that my beloved wife Margaretha, if it should please her, should live at one or the other of my children until her death. And my executors shall see to it that this will be executed, and that my son Jacob will not contest this will, but make use of their power as stated in this will. Lastly, I wish that my beloved and good friend Doctor David Hottenstein and my dear son Matthes Hinderleiter are the executors of this will. And to seal and confirm this will in the presence of Lutowig Zerlic and Jacob Richtstein.
