  • his plantation Oak Villa was located on the post route between Suffolk, VA and Wilmington, NC and therefore served as a post office. It burned to the ground on Christmas Eve ???? [Note of Caution: there is a misidentified picture floating around, supposedly of Oak Villa, but actually of the Wynn-Jordan house located nearby on Murfreesboro Road.]
  • 1762-1766 - 2nd High Sheriff of Hertford County
  • 1768 - appointed commissioner for Winton when it was formed
  • 21 Aug 1775 - represented Hertford at Hillsboro
  • pre-1776 - member of the Governor’s Council ; entry-taker for the county
  • 04 Apr 1776 - represented Hertford at Halifax
  • appointed Lieutenant Colonel of the Hertford County militia by state Congress
  • post-1776 - appointed Chairman of the old County Court
