Matthew Libby, born 25 April 1729; married first, 5 June 1750, Sarah Hanscom; second, 10 Feb 1774, Hannah Hasty.

He settled on part of his father's homestead. He was a shoemaker by trade, and served many years as sealer of leather. He lived there until March 1800 and then moved with his second wife and family and son-in-law Moody onto a farm which he purchased in the town of Litchfield, now Webster. There he died three or four years later.
