When he was 9 years old, Max came to America with his mother, Katharina and his sisters Elisabeth (14) and susanna (11) as well as his 7-year-old brother, Josef. They were going to their father, Michael Graf in Cincinnati, Ohio. They had left a brother-in-law (whose?) Rosinger Heinrich in the village of Zsombolya (Hatzfeld in German and now Jimbolia in Romania). It is in Torontál county and about 30.6 miles from Semlak.
