Grayson County, Virginia, Deeds record that Matthew Dickey and his wife Rebecca sold to 200 acres to Levi Jones and his wife Nancy, of Ashe Co., NC 10 Mar 1823. (Note: Levi Jones married Matthew's daughter Nancy).

According to Nuckolls, Pioneer Settlers of Grayson Co., Matthew Dickey , Sr. married Rebecca Wiley in NC, moved to Grayson Co. VA and died there. Date on tombstone: "died June 15, 1827, age 75 years." Nuckolls copied this information from a Lineage Book pub. by the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The info. is in Nuckolls, 188-189. I don't know where in Grayson Co. that tombstone is, but it is probably somewhere in or near the Peach Bottom Creek area, as that is where these Dickeys lived. Mathew Dickey lived on the west side of the creek, and William Bourne on the right side of the creek, according to Nuckolls (p. 183). Mathew's son James Dickey married Elizabeth Bourne, dau. of Stephen Bourne, son of Wm Bourne and Rosamund Jones. They had 11 children, and Nuckolls doesn't list them all. James had a second wife (a Vaughn) but no children with her.
