  2. Source:Trowbridge, Francis Bacon. Trowbridge Genealogy : History of the Trowbridge Family in America, p. 506, incorrectly identifies Mary as wife of Thomas Trowbridge. A footnote says, "The dates of her birth and death were not found.", and no evidence is given leaving us to wonder what this is based on. NEHGR, p. 169:309, identifies the real wife based on her fathers' will, also noting that no record connecting this Mary to Thomas Trowbridge has been found.
  3. The estimate of 1671 is selected to fit the birth order given in the cited source, and other sources covering this family (e.g., Source:Stevens, Eugene Rolaz. Erasmus Stevens, Boston, Mass., 1674-1690, and His Descendants, p. 52; Source:Butcher, Bernard Lee. Genealogical and Personal History of the Upper Monongahela Valley, West Virginia, p. 3:1373), that show her as the third child, no birth record being found. This is apparently based on the order named in the distribution of her father's personal estate, where "Mary wife of James Tilestone" is listed as 3rd of 10 children. Based on the age of the husband and the date of marriage and date of births of children, one might guess something more like 1681 or so...
