Mary P. Wardwell Engaged to Wed Brookline, Mass., Girl Will Bethe Bride of James Espy Simonds of New York Special to The New York Times BROOKLINE, Mass., Jan. 7: Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon E. Wardwell of Brookline have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Mary Porter Wardwell, to James Espy Simonds, son of Mr. and Mrs. William N. Simonds, also of Brookline, formerly of New Orleans and Cleveland. Miss Wardwell attended the Cambridge School in Kendall Green, Mass., the Lee School, and is now studying at the Garland School in Boston. She was Introduced to society in Boston during the season of 1936-37. She is a granddaughter of Mrs. Walter G. Garritt of Brookline and of J. Otis Wardwell of Haverhill, Mass. Mrs. Chauncey Keep Hutchins of Lake Forest, Ill., is her sister. Miss Wardwell is a member of the Boston Junior League and of the Vincent Club. Mr. Simonds prepared for college at the Sewanee Military Academy and attended the University of Chicago. He is a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Espy W. H. Williams of New Orleans and a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin G. Tillotson of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Sanders of Winter Park, Fla. -New York Times 08 January 1939
