- ↑ There is a rootsweb tree without sources that gives Mary's maiden name as Mary Colburn, born 24 Jan 1673 in Beverly. However this site does not give her parents names, and no such birth record is found in Source:Beverly, Essex, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records of Beverly, Massachusetts, to the End of Year 1849, nor a baptism record in Source:Beverly, Essex, Massachusetts, United States. Records of the First Church in Beverly, Massachusetts, 1667-1772. If this is true, her parents would presumably be Robert Coburn and Mary Bishop, who seem to be the only likely-named family in Beverly having children during the time of her birth. However, all this supposition cannot be confirmed, and as no primary record, nor even reputable secondary source, yet found by me, provides the surname of Jonathan Baker's wife, it must be deemed unknown until an explanation and proof of how it is known can be provided. -- 1 May 2010, Jrich
