    Notes from Chris Barry
    Among death notices in the Newburgh Daily Journal of Fri. 28 Apr. 1865, is the following:
    "April 27th, After a long and painful illness, Mary, beloved wife of George Couch, aged 40 years, 6 months and 18 days.

    I would not live always,
    No welcome the tomb,
    Since Jesus hath lain there,
    I dread not its gloom,
    There sweet be my rest till
    He bid me arise,
    To hail him in triumph
    Descending the skies.

    "Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend the funeral Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, from No. 50 Washington street, and from the Second M.E. Church at 10½ o'clock."

    Burial: April 30, 1865, St. George's Cemetery, Newburgh, Orange County, New York

    Cause of Death: Inflammation of the lungs
