Facts and Events
Mary Singleton was baptised on 12th February 1816 at Long Bennington in Lincolnshire daughter of Elizabeth Singleton, formerly Ingram, and her husband William Singleton, a labourer and huckster. The family moved to the neighbouring village of Foston shortly after Mary's birth.
Mary's father died at Foston in 1828, when Mary was twelve years old.
In 1839, when Mary was 23 years old, she had a daughter called Ann at Foston. Sadly Ann died when she was just over a year old.
Mary worked as a domestic servant, appearing in both the 1841 and 1851 census working for farmers in Foston.
Mary's mother died in Foston in 1859.
By 1861 Mary had moved away from Foston and was working as a house servant for a worsted goods manufacturer at Bingley in Yorkshire. She has yet to be traced after 1861.
