Mary's Death
- THEORY A: Date of Death = bef 5 Mar 1672 (date of her father's death)
- Source: Savage 3:46 who writes of the children of Edward Riggs, "it may be conclud[ed] that he had ... two d[aughter]s wh[o] live[d] to m[arry] but all d[ied] bef[ore] him."
- Analysis: needed
- Status: currently posted
- THEORY B: Date of Death = 30 Oct 1694 in Dedham, MA.
- Source: Based on the theory that Mary was married again to Samuel Miles 12 years after the death of her first husband. The theory is supported by the following records:
- Dedham Marriage: "Samuell Miles & Mary Twitchell, was marryed, Febuary [sic] 3, 1684.
- Medfield Marriage: TWICHELL, Mary and Samuel Meuls [?], Feb. 3, 1684-5.* *Intentions not recorded.
- Dedham Death: "1694. Mary, the wife of Samuell Mills, decesed [sic] October 30."
- Dedham Death: "1694. Samuell Mills, decesed [sic] January 7, 1694-5."
- Analysis:
- Riggs Surname Study posts Theory A, calling Theory B "highly questionable." No explanation given.
- In 2009, Anderson in Riggs Revisited4 says Mary Twitchell, wife of Samuel Miles is "probably the widow" of Benjamin Twitchell.
