Mary was born the daughter of Edward Richards and Mary Head in old Baltimore County Maryland [present-day Carroll County].
Her birth coincided with the time her parents were associating with the Gunpowder Friend's Meeting, originally located in present-day Cockeysville Maryland. Her father Edward had moved his family from Dorchester County MD to the Gunpowder Meeting location in 1729.
Then, in 1737, her parents moved a few miles further west into the Maryland wilderness and settled on land ["Rattlesnake Ridge"] that would become Hampstead Maryland.
Mary was courted by and married to Christopher Vaughn/Vaughan, son of Abraham Vaughn [1706] and Edith Gist [1709], ca1757 in old Baltimore County Maryland [now Carroll County]. Christopher is credited with laying out [platting] the town of Hampstead, land which his father-in-law Edward Richards had founded originally.
I believe Mary and Christopher remained in Hampstead and raised their family there. I am still searching for their children, and to confirm the place of burial for she and her husband.
