Note from Descendants of Adam Reid by Jonni Sue Schilaty: Obituary: "Spent her childhood near Richmond, Indiana, where hergrandparents had taken up residence in 1822. At 16 she became a teacherand taught throughout the Civil War. At the close of the war she marriedWilliam Penn Waldo, and lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, teaching in theschools there until the birth of her daughter, Grace Margaret Waldo, in1870. When Mr. Waldo died in 1873" (I have records that state that heremarried an Emma Coffman and had two more children, plus I have hisdeath record in 1923, in CA)," she moved to Fort Wyne, Indiana, andserved as principal of the Harmer School. In 1895, she was married toWilliam John McCune of Petoskey, Mich., and lived there until her death. (The parenthasis are Jonnie Sue Schelaty words) Handwritten Waldo document in my posession states "Mrs. Waldo, with herdaughter, Grace, in 1885, was residing in Fort Wayne, Ind. where she thenwas, and had been since 1872, a teacher in the public schools.
(Birth: Grace W. Jessop stated Mary was born on her Uncle Dan Reid's farmin Richmond, Indiana. I have searched many hours attempting to find arecord of her birth. It may have gone unrecorded. I do find Reidsliving there at that time.) By Jonni Sue Schelaty. References
