  2.   Obituary for Mary E Smith, in Morrow County Sentinel (Mount Gilead, Ohio)
    17 Jun 1897.

Mrs. Mary E. Smith died at her home in Edison, Ohio, June 12, 1897, in her 80th year. The funeral services were held at her late residence Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Philpott officiating, assisted by Rev. Struggles,
    formerly of Edison.

The last sickness was of several weeks duration, but she bore her suffering with fortitude and was cheerful to the last.

She had resided a number of years at Edison, but formerly lived near Cardington, where she made many friends. Her husband, Geo. B. Smith, passed death's portals nearly seven years ago. There are several sons and daughters who sadly miss the presence of a gentle, loving and Christian mother.

  3. The MORROW COUNTY INDEPENDENT, Cardington, Ohio, 17 June 1897, had in its obituary for Mary that the deceased resided for about 20 years on a farm near Cardington where by her gentleness and kindness she made many friends.

    Sad Tidings.
Last Thursday, Mrs. H. J. Smith, of Vienna township, received the sad intelligence of her mother's death, which occurred on the 12th instant, at her home in Edison, Ohio. The deceased was 78 years of age. She was known to many friends of the family in this vicinity and at Havensville who became acquainted with her during her visits with her daughter's family, and these, with all other of the numerous friends of the daughter and her esteemed family, will deeply sympathize with them in their sad bereavement.
