Facts and Events
The 1976 Wabash County history book states that Mary's uncles had fought in the famous Boer War, and established the colony of Pretoria in South Africa. Apparently that widely held belief was an error, as the Pretorius family who founded Pretoria was from Holland, whereas Mary's family were Palatines. Also her uncles could not have been involved because Pretoria was founded before they were even born. Sorry!
