Mary Pearman's origins have yet to be established. The age quoted when she died implies that she was born around 1760. Mary's first confirmed sighting is on 4th October 1782, when she married Shadrach Males at Aspenden in Hertfordshire. One of the witnesses to the marriage was a Jeremiah Pearman, who was presumably a relative. After their marriage, Mary and Shadrach settled in the nearby parish of Sandon, having five children baptised there between 1783 and 1795. The family later moved about sixteen miles south to the county town of Hertford, where they lived on St Andrew's Street on the west side of the town. Mary died in 1819, and was buried at St Andrew's Church in Hertford on 4th May 1819. She was said to be 58 years old. Shadrach outlived her by about fourteen years. References
