-- Matie or Mattie Victoria Parks[MCarson.ftw]

-- Matie or Mattie Victoria Parks (nickname) sister of Alla. Named after her

    Aunt (father's sister).

- Maried twice -- Caught in 'big' SanFrancisco Quake in 1906. Matie and her husband were

working in San Franciso. Jimmy Sandusky of Sandusky Ohio,
owned the "Sandusky Players" Matie supported him by being the
wardrobe mistress, in charge of sewing and repairing costum
for the shows. They were staying in a San Francisco hotel and were in bed in the early morning when the quake struck. The
floor they were staying on colapsed into the floor below. They went
down a whole story with the bed. They were choking with all t
dust and plaster; a couple of pieces of fruit, an orange a
apple rolled by and Jimmy snatched them up. He and Matie ripped
them apart and used them to cover their nose and mouth to he
breathe. They both escaped without injury.
told by Ruth Frances Ross Frame 1/2000
Barbara Ruth Henley Carson has heard versions of
this story since she was about 5 or 6 years old (1941)
when she found a box of the Sandusky Player costumes
in the attic. She remembers particularly a silver/lavender
gray costume made of satin: Long skirted with a small
train and a separate bodice boned to a V with a sma
waist and large puggy sleeves. Was told it was a
         costume for a Queen. 1/2000
Ruth Ross Frame remembers that she and her sisters were sent
a large 4 x 5 crate of costumes about 1916 from Matie. She also
remembers wearing one of the costumes in a tableau / play wh
she was in the 8th grade. It was a long gold plush and white go
with full puffy sleaves. A boy named Robert Taylor played
George Washington and Ruth played Martha. Ruth F. Ross Frame

A storey about Jimmy Sandusky. He grew up in Sandusky Ohio, apparantly the child of wealthy parents (A family that apparantly influenced the name and beginnings of the town. When Jimmy was a child, his parents went on an extensive trip to New York. While the were gone, Jimmy broke his leg and he owed his care to his Mammy, his nurse, who set his leg and cared for him. He was quoted as saying she was his real mother. Some versions

heard before, but quoted by Ruth Frances Ross Frame 1/2000
