Mom recalls living with her parents and sister Marie at 500 S. Main St around 1918. Her family left Carbondale and moved to Avoca. Her father went to work for Gus Brown Insurance of Scranton.
Mom remembers an outhouse & chamberpot and having Saturday baths in a galvanized tub in the kitchen. The house did have hot and cold running water.
Incidence of the “exploding root beer” that Flossie made and had stored in a cupboard on the stairs to the basement.
The house was across the street from the RR station - Delaware and Hudson RR.
