    Mary Louise Magee Brumfield, age 80 and a resident of Franklinton, died at 8:23 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014, at her residence.

    She was born to Mildred Louise Brock and John Hampton Magee on Sept. 6, 1933. She was a retired history teacher of over 40 years, having taught in the Terrebonne and Washington Parish school systems and at Bowling Green School. She loved her students. She was a lifetime member of Clifton Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member and in the music and other ministries.

    She was married to her high school sweetheart, Jackson Louis Brumfield, in New York City on the television show “Bride and Groom” in 1954.

    She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jackson Brumfield of Franklinton; three daughters and sons-in-law: Sheila and Jerry Guy, Jackie and Randy Thomas and Jewel and Jerry Fruge, all of Franklinton; six grandchildren and spouses: Curt (Melina) Guy, Laura Guy, Shelley Thomas, Emily (Wes) Stewart, Caleb Fruge and Callie Fruge; two great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Anna Dell and Phillip Creel of Franklinton.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Louise Brock and John Hampton Magee, and two brothers, Johnny Magee and Wayne Magee.

    Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sat-urday, June 28, 2014, and after 10 a.m. Sunday. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tony Hicks and the Rev. Frederick Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Hayes Creek Church Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Washington Parish Activity Center and Clifton Baptist Church.
