In Richburgh, N. Y., Dec. 26th, 1874, Mary Scott, widow of John Scott, in the 76th year of her age. Sister Scott was born in Groton, Conn., March 31st, 1799, and was the daughter of Timothy and Judeth Rogers Lester. With her first husband, Daniel Williams, she settled in this town when it was a wilderness, braving the toils, dangers and sufferings of pioneer life, rearing a family of nine children, all of whom still live. She experienced religion in early life, and became identified with the people of God, and when she came here she was one of the faithful few who constituted the Richburg Seventh-day Baptist Church. Of this church she remained a consistent and faithful member until her death. We shall feel deeply her loss, but we are confident that death to her is eternal gain.
