Mary Ann Hornet was baptised on 28th November 1819 at Kimpton in Hertfordshire, daughter of Maria Hornet, a plaiter. Her baptism says she lived at Blackmore End, close to the border with the neighbouring parish of Wheathampstead. She died aged 16, being buried at Wheathampstead on 2nd January 1836, when she was described as having lived at Gustard Wood, which adjoins Blackmore End.
