Mary Hill Crandall of Ashaway, Rhode Island, and Pompano Beach, Florida, died Sunday, January 15, 1984, in Florida, after a brief illness.
She was the wife of Julian T. Crandall.
Born in Ashaway on March 10, 1890, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sarah (Green) Hill.
Mrs. Crandall was educated at Westerly (Rhode Island) High School and Alfred (New York) University. She joined the First Seventh Day Baptist Church of Hopkinton in 1902 and was active in every phase of church life, singing in the choir, teaching Sabbath School and working in the Ladies Aid. Mrs. Crandall was a member of the Sokvabek Club, the Westerly YMCA, the Y Garden Club, and the Westerly Hospital Aid Association.
Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Elizabeth Driftmier of Pawcatuck, Esther Pierson of Stamford, Conn., and Carolyn Preston of Hamilton, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
The committal service was private. A memorial service will be held at the First Seventh Day Baptist Church of Hopkinton in Ashaway early in the summer.
