Mary Ann Watson was baptised on 5th December 1813 at Saltash in Cornwall, daughter of Elizabeth Harry, formerly Worth, and her husband Robert Harry, a fisherman and waterman. She was the second of five children, although her older brother had died as a baby, making her effectively the eldest.

In 1835 Mary's mother Elizabeth died.

The following year, aged 23, Mary married James Watson at Saltash's parish church of St Stephen. They appear to have had two or three children, but apparently only one who survived infancy: Sarah Mary, born in 1841.

Mary died in 1843, aged 29. The 1851 census finds her daughter Sarah Mary living with Mary's father Robert and his second wife, whilst Mary's widower James was living with Mary's sister Sarah and her husband.
