Obituary

MRS. LEWIS E. WRIGHT.

In the death of Mrs. Lewis E. Wright, who passed away at her home early Sunday morning, Woolwich has lost one of her oldest and most respected residents. Mrs. Wright has been in poor health for several years and early in November suffered from a slight shock of paralysis from which she never fully recovered and during the last two weeks has been failing rapidly. Although the latter part of her life was attended with much suffering no murmur of complaint passed her lips, her thought, rather, being of those around her, that their comfort be not disturbed.
Always unselfish, she was ever mindful of the happiness of others, and many are the acts of kindness that will be remembered by those who were so fortunate as to know her. Although confined to the house for some time by reason of her advanced age, young and old delighted to visit her for she was universally beloved for her genial manner and exemplary life.
Mrs. Wright was a member of the Congregational church and a warm supporter of all its work and interests. She was the daughter of Ebenezer and Abigail (Hodgdon) Greenleaf, both of Westport, and a descendant in direct line of Edmond Greenleaf, who came to America from England in 1635, the common ancestor of this famous family.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband and six of her nine children: Mrs. George Dodge of Woolwich, Fred'k Wright of Bath, Winfield, Wilson and Pamelia Wright of Woolwich, and Sophia Wright of Providence, R. I., also two sisters, Mrs. S. G. Hodgdon of Boothbay and Mrs. Trevett.
