    1698.
Nov. 20. Mary, Daughter of Joseph Grant [baptized].
[Note: it is hard to reconcile this with the baptism of 3 children in Aug 1698, one of whom, Abigail, is suspected of being born in 1698, followed by the birth of Mary in 1699. There is no baptism of Mary in 1699 so it does not appear this is two births. Even if so, and the child died, it would mean two children born in 1698 and one in 1699 without any indication of twins - pretty much impossible. Nor can this be Abigail's baptism record with the name confused because Abigail is listed in August. So, while church records usually are more reliable, since this is essentially contradicted by another church record (the baptism in August), it is suspected in this case that the church record is in error, and the baptism was in 1699?]
