Mary E. Laughner Rubis, 85, of Derry Township, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, in Barnes House, Latrobe.
Born Feb. 15, 1918, in Latrobe, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Ellen (Miller) Garan.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and retired from Kennametal Inc. as an office service administrator with 41 years of service. While at Kennametal, she served in the following capacities and belonged to these organizations: charter member of the National Management Association; Kennametal Federal Credit Union; in-plant Printing Management Association; Notary Public; Kennametal Professional Women's Association Adviser and one of its founding members; and assistant purchasing agent.
She was formerly employed by Bell Telephone Co. as a switchboard operator. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Ligonier Valley Library Association, Fort Ligonier Association, Ligonier Valley Historical Society, AARP, Latrobe Area Historical Society, Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society, YMCA of Greensburg and life member of International Association of Printing House Craftsmen Inc., Pittsburgh Chapter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward M. Laughner, on Nov. 26, 1970; and a sister, Helen McFadden.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph D. Rubis; a sister, Margaret Newcomer and husband, Joseph, of Latrobe; a brother-in-law, Richard McFadden, of Latrobe; and a number of nieces and nephews.
