Obituaries SHORT ILLNESS IS FATAL SATURDAY TO MRS. J.C. OSBORN Mrs. J.C. Osborn died Saturday afternoon following a brief illness with erysipelas while visiting at the home of a relative in Carson City and assisting in the care of Louis Stone, who was critically ill, Mrs. Osborn a week ago injuring her leg. She was taken to the home of a sister-in-law, Mrs. Snyder, and a doctor made daily visits but Friday morning erysipelas developed and Friday she was brought to her home in Ionia. Saturday morning her condition became critical and she died that afternoon. Mrs. Osborn was 63 years of age June 1. She was born in Canada and came to this community when 14 years of age and has always lived near Ionia, Carson City, and Mecosta. She had been married 40 years. One son, C.E. Osborn, two grandsons Royal and Vernon Osborn of Ionia, and a brother, John Doris of Mt. Pleasant, survive. The funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 o'clock from the home at 326 Yeomans street. Burial will take place in East Plains cemetery. Shortly preceding Mrs. Osborn's death, Mr. Osborn received a message stating that his brother, Levi Osborn aged 56, of Matherton, had died ___________months of illness with Bright's disease. Plans for this funeral have not been made, but will be under the direction of the Masonic order. Mr. Osborn having been a past master of two blue lodges. The nephew, Louis Stone, was taken to a Grand Rapids hospital the middle of last week, and little hope is held for his recovery. Another relative of Mr. Osborn, a sister-in-law, is in a hospital recovering from an operation for goite (sic). Source: Ionia Daily Sentinal Standard, Mon. Jun 14 1926, pg 9. The funeral service for Mrs. J.C. Osborn was largely attended from the home Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Mohr, late pastor of the Evangelical church, conducted the service. The bearers were George Conkey, Jay Minor, Byron Haskins, and Herbert Smith. Mrs. Elmer Cowan was in charge of the flowers. Interment was made in East Plains cemetery.
