At Sun Prairie, Wis., February 18, 1862, of congestion of the brain, Mrs. Mary M. Main, wife of A. H. Main, aged 30 years, 8 months, and 11 days. She bore her last sickness, during six weeks, with sweet resignation to the will of her heavenly Father; often expressed her readiness to leave her earthly home, her beloved husband, and two darling children, at the summons of death, for the society of Christ and the blessed ones above.
She made a profession of religion at ten years of age, in Scott, N. Y., where her father, John B. Cottrell, then resided. At fourteen, she united, on baptism, with the Seventh-day Baptist Church in Richburg, N. Y.; and on her removal to Madison, Wis., she joined the Milton Church, six years ago. She maintained a consistent walk as a humble and inquiring Christian, and left a large group of friends, who deeply mourn her early departure. Amiable, affectionate, patient, and pious, she has completed her walk on earth, and is now growing in the culture, and engaged in the service, of heaven. W. C. W.
