FROM "HISTORY OF CHRIST'S CHURCH COLCHESTER"

    A zealous public spirited old man, this Mr. Pollard, who came walking along the shore road from Amherstburg in 1816, to hold Services in the settlement on Lake Erie.  He was then about 65 years of age, and as some one has recorded, "He was a bachelor, and tall , and he had a big nose".  He held service first in Captain Little's house, on what is now the Craig Subdivision near Oxley.  When I was a boy there was nothing left of the buildings but the log barn and the log stable, and a heap of bricks where the house had stood.  The house had stood near the road along the edge of the bank - the road which still existed 50 years ago as "Lovers' Lane" - a very beautiful grass grown tree shaded walk, a favorite place for Church Picnics.  Of Captain and Mrs. Little, nothing remains but their graves and head stones in the old Cemetery, my memory of my mother's kind feeling for Mrs. Little, and the record that in their house was held the first Anglican Service in Colchester
