Facts and Events
Mary had a good voice. She loved singing and learnt from Hilda Gitt who taught at the Adelaide Conservatorium.\\ As the eldest daughter of John Henry CHINNER, she often assisted in his mayoral duties and official occasions.\\ She wanted to nurse but was needed at home to help with her father's mayoral duties. The family also didn't want her to as her sister Dorothy had died while nursing at the Adelaide Children's Hospital.\\ She was a great support to her husband, R.H. Davidson, as she coped with the economics of the Great Depression and Second World War. She supplied jam and marmalade for Hindmarsh Hospital and the Methodist-run Mount Barker Rest Home. Indeed, she made bread and jam always available for the homeless during the Depression.\\ Mary was a Foundation Member (1902) of the Methodist Ladies College (M.L.C.). References
