- ↑ "Mary Runciman died in Waterloo, Jackson County, Michigan June 8, 1879 aged 65 years. The subject of this notice was born in Berwickshire, Scotland. At the early age of 16 she embraced religion and joined the Presbyterian Church in which she remained a constituent and faithful member until the year 1851 when with her husband William Runciman, she emigrated to America and settled on thef arm where she was taken from her labor to reward.
Soon after their arrival in Waterloo she joined the Wesleyan Methodist Church and remained a member as long as the organisation remained in that place. In 1860 she joined the church of the United Bretheren in Christ. She was always faithful in her attendance upon the means of grace, and liberal with her means to support eh Gospel of Jesus christ. She was always ikind, cheerful and happy, scattering sunshine and cheerfulness on all around. The weary itinerant who has traveled Jackson Circuit, as well as the writer of this notice will deeply feel this great loss to us, but gain to her. Her husband died a few years ago, a faithful Christian, and they are now, we trust united again in the great church triumphant above. May God comfort the five remaining children who morun the loss of a dear mother.
