Mary Ann Berg, daughter of David and Magdalena Berg, was born in Wayne county, Indiana, January 10, 1831, and departed this life at the home of her son, Joseph C. Howard, north of this city, March 28, 1909, at the age of 78 years, 2 months, 18 days. On December 24, 1845, she was united in marriage to Isaiah Howard, and to this union six sons and ifve daughters were born, all of whom are living save the father, who died January 4, 1891, aged nearly 78 years, and a son David M., who died August 16, 1895, at the age of 34 years. About 30 years ago, she with her husband, united with the Church of the Brethren in the faith of which they lived faithful and consistent members until their transplanting in the other world. Can you think of the cares, anxiety and toll of a mother, rearing a family of eleven children to maturity? What can be too good for them, or how much kindness should we bestow upon them in the declining years? She was held in the highest esteem by the community in which she lived, for her integrity, love and sterling worth. The remaining members of the family are
