QUAY 3 WOMAN STRUCK BY AUTO DIES AT HOSPITAL

"Mrs. Mary Ann Writht, aged 69, of 1611 Fourth Avenue, mother of Mrs. Francis F. McGinnis, with whom she resided, died at Mercy Hospital at 6:15 this morning of injuries received about 8:30 Tuesday evening when she was struck by an automobile in front of the home of Nathaniel Leaird, 1704 McKinley Avenue. The car, which knocked her to the pavement was driven by Howard Clifford, 210 Sherman Street north. Traffic Officer Bernard Gifford of the police department and Coroner Henry M. Simon investigated the accident and decided an inquest will not be held. Mr. Clifford was not held.
Mrs. Wright, her daughter, Mrs. McGinnis, Mrs. Matthew Ryan, a sister, and Mrs. Nathaniel Leaird, had just returned from Mercy Hospital, where Mrs. Leaird's husband is a patient. Mrs. McGinnis parked her car on the North side of McKinley avenue, opposite the Leaird home and Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Leaird alighted from the car on the North side. It was raining at the time and Mrs. Wright, in a hurry to reach the Leaird residence walked around the rear of the car and directly in the path of the car driven by Clifford, it is said. Clifford was proceeding in a Westerly direction.
She was knocked to the pavement. Mr. Clifford stopped his car quickly, called an ambulance and had Mrs. Wright moved to Mercy Hospital, attended by J. C. Grosjean, and at first her injuries were not thought to be serious...She suffered greatly from shock, however and was also injured internally. In addition she was badly bruised about the right arm and right leg and received a bed hit on the forehead. The internal injuries and shock are believed to have been responsible for her death.
Mrs. Wright was born February 8, 1857 in Ontario and was the widow of the late David Wright. She is survived by two sons, J. Wright of Bay City and Edwin Wright of
