  3. ↑ The name seems to be spelled Aslebe or Aslebee in literature, though often Aslett in contemporary records. Searching for sources using Aslett yields very little. See, for example, TAG, p. 40:231, which says: "Perhaps because he did not sign his name himself, the first John Aslebee has been rather carelessly recorded, both in original records and in later compilations, as Aslit, Aslett, Alsbee or Asleby."
