The origins of Mary Jane's parents given on this death registration are contrary to all other sources found. The informant was a niece, the daughter of her brother Alexander. There is also a discrepancy between the birth date given on the 1901 census and that given on the death registration.
- There was no sighting of Mary Jane Arnold Campbell nor her husband on the 1881 census or in any other source between 1871 and 1891.
