Mary was married on 8th June 1772 to Thomas Swinton. They had at least three children born in the late 1770s, although none of them were baptised as babies.

Mary died at the age of 37. She was buried at Kirkby la Thorpe on 4th December 1780. A note on her burial describes her as "wife of Thomas Swinton commonly so called a Dissenter". Mary's father survived her.

Thomas died less than five years later. Their three children were all baptised on the same day in 1787, a couple of years after Thomas's death.
