  4. The will of grandfather Joseph Brigham in 1786 lists the last three children as Benjamin, Martha, and Joseph. Since Benjamin is b. abt 1768 and Joseph in 1775, Martha (Patty is sometimes used as an alternate for Martha) is somewhere in between. Tainter placed Patty before Benjamin, but had no birth date. One might suppose that this ordering is based on her marriage in Holden, MA, presumably prior to the father moving to New York in 1791, but to be 18 at this time, she only had to be born by 1773, so after Benjamin seems more likely.
