Rev. Josiah Sherman m. 24 "Jehnvory" 1756 [sic, 1757 by published records] Martha Minot, d/o Col. Jamens Minot and Elizabeth Merrick of Concord, b. 1 Feb 1738 [sic, death records at Concord show the Martha born on that date died in 1739]. "She d. at Durham, Greene County, New York, 1820."
↑ Even though some sources, such as the Sherman Genealogy, give Martha the birth date of 1 Feb 1737/38, the 1739 death date of the first daughter named Martha seems pretty clear. Based on the survivor's marriage in 1757 (not 1756 as given by the Sherman Genealogy), her birth must have been very soon after the first daughter Martha died, i.e., about 1740. Her death is reported in the Sherman Genealogy, but since no record has been found, the age at death is unknown, and this estimate hasn't been confirmed.
