"Minddert Vanhorn, son of Richard Vanhorn and Patty, his wife, of New Ark in the Province (now State) of New Jersey, was married in Liverpool to Susanah Harlow, daughter of Robert Harlow and Jane, his wife, on the thirty-first day of December in the year, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-eight." Record shows use of the name "Patty," a diminutive for "Martha."
