    Death of Beloved Woman.

Clark county lost one of her best loved women when Mrs. Martha E. Carr, wife of Dr. Francis M. Carr of New Market, passed away at 6:30 Tuesday evening at her home at that town in Oregon township. Death followed a long period of failing health and for a considerable time the end had been imminent.

Mrs. Carr was by birth and marriage a member of two of the best known and most distinguished families in Clark county. She was born Martha E. Cortner in October 1833 [sic] and was thus in her 78th year. Her birth occurred in this county, the family being one of the pioneer ones of the eastern part of the county. More than 56 years ago she became the bride of her surviving husband to whom she was married on Christmas Day 1854 by the Rev. Bavar[?].

Her husband, Dr. F. M. Carr, who on January 3 attained the age of 80 years, was completing his medical course in Louisville when he married and he graduated a few months later. He immediately settled down in Oregon township with his bride to the practice of medicine and there for well nigh 60 years this honorable and honored couple have had their home, the wife loyally assisting her husband in his duties and like him winning the love and admiration of the neighborhood. Dr. Carr became known all over the eastern part of the county and in early days practiced medicine over a wide area.
