Mrs. Martha Eliza Davis, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Carlisle, was born at West Hallock, Ill., Sept. 18, 1863, and died at her home in Farina, Ill., Nov. 2, 1906.
Her parents came to Farina when she was three years old. For eleven years she taught in the public schools. Oct. 21, 1890, she was united in marriage to Carroll A. Davis. To this union was born one daughter. At the age of eighteen she was baptized by Eld. C. M. Lewis, and united with the Farina Church. Her cheerful disposition and gladness to serve others won for her many friends, who now unite in sympathy with the bereaved husband and daughter and other relatives. Farewell services were held on Sabbath afternoon, conducted by her pastor. Rev. C. A. Burdick offered prayer, and Rev. L. D. Seager spoke of the live work of Mrs. Davis.
